Sebastian Wrong

Sebastian Wrong is a designer, creative director and specialist in modern manufacturing. His fifteen year career has seen him work with some of the most pre-eminent designers and companies of the era. His portfolio of work spans furniture, lighting, accessories and gallery projects. He is currently the creative director of the London based lighting manufacturer, Wrong.London.

Wrong received much critical acclaim for the Spun lamp, which he designed for Flos in 2003, winning the prestigious Red Dot Design Award. In 2005, he was a founding member of the British manufacturer Established & Sons, and remained the design director of the company until 2012. Under his guidance, the company produced some of the most iconic designs of the decade. In 2011, Wrong launched The Wrong Shop, an online platform that sells edition prints by notable designers and artists from around the world.

In 2012, in collaboration with Danish brand HAY, Wrong founded WH. Initially conceived as a specialist lighting manufacturer, the guiding principle for WH was to create design of lasting quality at an accessible price. In 2016, WH has evolved into Wrong.London, with the company now dedicating itself entirely to lighting manufacture. Based in London, the company is progressive and independent in spirit, tapping into the idiosyncratic joy of the city in which it is based. Wrong works closely with a talented roster of international designers who like to play with the possibilities of product. Together, they celebrate diversity, eclecticism and good ideas.

Richard Woods

Richard Woods was born in 1966 and graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in 1990.

Recent exhibitions and projects include the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Royal Academy of Art, London, Grieder Contemporary, Zurich, Deitch Projects, New York and Miami, Cosmic Galerie, Paris and the 50th Venice Biennale.

Woods trained as a sculptor but would rather think of his work in terms of surfaces. His architectural interventions are chiefly concerned with the re-surfacing of existing structures, and they propose an absurd twist on the cult of home improvement and DIY aesthetics. Over the past few years, he has designed a sensational interior for the Comme des Garçons' flagship store in Osaka, orchestrated the mock Tudor overhaul of a private residence in New York and transformed the interior of Cary Grant's former Hollywood residence for its new owner, Jeffrey Deitch. In 2003, his re-paving of a cloistered courtyard was the centrepiece of The Henry Moore Foundation's exhibition at the 50th International Venice Biennale of Art.

Works by Richard Woods are held in major collections including the Saatchi Collection, Arts Council England, and the British Museum.

London Design Festival

The London Design Festival was conceived by Sir John Sorrell and Ben Evans. Building on London's existing design activity, their concept was to create an annual event that would promote the city's creativity, drawing in the country's greatest thinkers, practitioners, retailers and educators to a deliver an unmissable celebration of design. First staged in 2003, the London Design Festival is now one of the world's most important annual design events. The estival programme is made up of over 300 events and exhibitions staged by hundreds of partner organisations across the design spectrum and from around the world.

The London Design Festival works closely with, and receives financial support directly from, the Mayor’s Office – having transferred support from the London Development Agency. The Festival also receives support from Arts Council England, as a National Portfolio Organisation 2012-15.
