Maria Risueño studied architecture at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAM), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and completed her studies at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago.

Architectural studies gave her an eagerness to start designing new products and experiences for future domestic environments, which led her to new fields such as Product, Furniture Design and User Experience Design (UX/UI). Thanks to this training, she developed the analytical tools necessary to find design opportunities in social and urban surroundings.

After finishing her studies in 2005, she worked for Studio Gang Architects in Chicago, and is currently working for Héctor Fernández Elorza Architects in Madrid.
