THE WISH

Initially Sir Paul just asked for something handmade, but he quickly settled on a shed and commissioned Nathalie de Leval. He was not looking complete isolation however, stipulating that one end of the shed should be glazed, offering a view out. And, like the shed in which Bernard Shaw used to write, Sir Paul wanted his to rotate so that he could take advantage of sun or shade at different times of day.

When asked about his brief Sir Smith said, ‘Really the inspiration behind the design was to create somewhere where you can go to switch off, somewhere to relax. In today’s world where everyone is so busy, I think this is really important and much needed.’ The shed will not be stuck in the corner of a garden; rather it will sit on the top of a hill or by a forest, overlooking an amazing view.
