Amanda Nevill commissioned Sebastian Cox to create a pencil case, a desk and a chair. Nevill’s vision is centred around the theme of writing and storytelling, something that is important to her personally as well as to her work at the British Film Institute. In a world where writing is a dying art, Nevill still writes real letters and keeps and inkpen. The commission started as a pencil case and, after developing the idea with Cox, grew into an entire writing compendium.
“As human beings, we love listening to stories and I have been an avid reader since I was a child. We’ll put it in BFI Southbank and it will become a writing station for emerging film-makers and writers who will be encouraged to leave a record of when they were there and what they were working on” - Amanda Nevill, BFI
