AHEC

For more than 30 years, American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) has been at the forefront of international wood promotion in Europe, successfully building a distinctive and creative brand for American hardwoods. AHEC has created creative design projects such as Legacy, The Smile and MultiPly for international platforms such as the London Design Festival, the Milano Design Week or the Madrid Design Festival, to show the great potential of this sustainable raw material and provide valuable examples of inspiration.

AHEC has pioneered Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) modeling for hardwood, an approach that has since been adopted by other industries. LCA measures a number of impacts: primary energy demand (from renewable and non-renewable resources), potential global warming, potential acidification, potential eutrophication, and potential creation of photochemical ozone.
