Farrell Livingstone | 2018

Farrell created a coffee table inspired by brutalist buildings, such as the design museum in Barcelona, and connected with natural aspects through the zen garden nestled in the centre of the piece. Rather than only using the clear parts of the timber, Farrell incorporated the natural characteristics of the red oak into the piece, adding character to the piece.

"I didn't really change my approach to design, but I found the fact that you couldn't choose the material and the restriction on quantity helped me focus more. I was thinking is this piece or offcut something I might someday use? Do I really need to throw it away?"
