John Chan joined AHEC as Director of its Southeast Asia and Greater China Office when the regional office was established in Hong Kong in 1992. He is responsible for developing promotional and marketing strategies in the region covering China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. A science graduate from the University of British Columbia, Canada, John has accumulated over 30 years of experience working with forest products, of which more than 25 years were devoted to the promotion of American hardwood products. John has substantial experience in organizing conventions and conferences, strategic planning, programme implementation and market assessments for American hardwood products. He is the key representative for the industry when communicating with all levels of governments, trade associations, timber trade, construction field, interior design industry and media in the region.
