French born designer Anne-Claire Petre runs anaca studio, a Melbourne based furniture brand offering a range of sophisticated and sustainable furniture.

Studies in industrial and furniture design took her from France to Scotland and to a design-making associateship at the Jamfactory in Adelaide. Along the way she developed her understanding of good design, materials and processes.

For Seed to Seat, Anne-Claire created ‘Emi’, seating pods from American red oak. Being true to her clean aesthetic, the shape of the pods is simple but with a three dimensional texture achieved by scalloping on the sides to add visual and tactile appeal.

The red oak used to make the Emi pods would take just 0.12 seconds to grown in the US hardwood forest. The carbon footprint of both pods is the same as the average Australian produces every 3 days.
