Rupert Oliver is an independent forest products consultant and Environmental Policy Director to AHEC. Contributing to wood forums and conferences all over the world, he is an internationally recognized authority on market trends, environmental issues, sustainable forest management and certification, particularly focusing on hardwoods.
Rupert is providing technical input to the Sustainable Hardwood Coalition (SHC), the AHEC-led initiative which offers independent, cost-effective, and robust assurance of the sustainability of U.S. hardwoods at scale using the latest remote sensing, wood provenance identification, and Life Cycle Assessment technologies combined with expert jurisdictional risk assessment.
Rupert has a masters degree in forestry and has advised a wide range of government agencies and business associations both at international and national level during a career spanning over 30 years.
