Marcin’s design for a floating shelving and drawer system was inspired by Frank Gehry’s Marqués de Riscal hotel in Spain. After seeing the ribbon-like façade of the building, Marcin began to visualise drawers and storage within the spaces which lead him to the design of the sculptural pieces. These intricate shapes are formed through steam bending, a process for which red oak is particularly suitable.
"We were asked to take in the influences of artists, architects and designers, which made me approach this work differently. I pushed myself further with the aim of producing something more sculptural."
