Emily Taylor

For the design of her bookshelf, Emily looked towards ceramic artist Richard Slee, who takes his inspiration from arts and crafts. This explains why Emily’s finished bookshelf resembles an artist’s easel.

"What was different about this project was that it was not just about having a piece by a deadline. There were other valuable aspects to take into account. Especially interesting and useful was the focus on environmental impact; recording materials used, machine times, thinking about design more in the context of manufacture. It's helped me reflect on wider environmental issues and before I haven't really questioned where materials have come from."
