The London Design Festival presented another exciting opportunity for the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) to demonstrate the potential of U.S. hardwoods in exterior use.



Michelin starred Chinese restaurant puts the spotlight on American red oak at newly opened Jumeirah Emirates Towers establishment

Davies’ interest in food and cooking led her to designing a chair that could be described in the form of a recipe. The chair is made up from a variety of hardwoods with a strong affiliation to food.

The initial project brief provided by London Design Festival and AHEC, challenged Amanda Levete Architects (AL_A) and engineering company Arup to design a structure which would manifest the strength and beauty of American red oak.

Internationally known Italian furniture maker RIVA1920, launched key pieces of furniture in American red oak at the Cologne Furniture Fair in January 2011. The red oak used in the beacons was recycled to produce the first pieces for the collection.
Yale's most sustainable building to date, the Yale School of Environmental Studies and Forestry is a masonry building lined with American red oak that has achieved LEED platinum status and is carbon neutral.
