“Ecobuild” has emerged in recent years as the UK’s most important commercial showcase for building products, all presented under an ecological banner. So it is no surprise that the wood presence has been growing. For AHEC it was the perfect platform to showcase the recent work on tulipwood treatment for exterior use. A custom designed stand presented the David Adjaye tulipwood pavilion, tulipwood furniture, a tulipwood sculpture, and tulipwood cladding.
AHEC has been working in cooperation with UK based wood treatment specialists Osmose to research cost effective treatments for tulipwood to enable its use in exterior applications. AHEC were able to present some of the initial findings together with samples in order to demonstrate to

manufacturers and specifiers visiting the show that this species has potential for external uses, such as cladding.
The stand also included display panels promoting the wide range of US hardwoods through a series of prestigious architectural applications and the AHEC legality study. Significant quantities of AHEC publications were distributed and the new website was also available online for visitors to browse.
