AHEC on TV
Von: David Venables in Comment, Events, Architecture and Design
An interview on prime time national Spanish TV today was certainly a first for me. Despite the significant profile we have achieved over many years of hardwood promotion in Spain this kind of opportunity does not come along very often so we made the most of it. The occasion was a briefing on our latest collaboration with the Hay Festival (series of international literary and arts events), this time in Segovia in September. AHEC will be staging an exhibition and design debate featuring well known Spanish designers from the worlds of Sculpture (Jorge Palacios), furniture (Alberto Liévore) and architecture (Rafael Beneytez). Two selected students from the design school of Segovia, who host the exhibition, will also show their work. All the pieces will be made in different American hardwoods, including red oak, tulipwood, maple and cherry. Today’s press conference was a great chance to really raise the profile for hardwood with the national press and put forward our views on why we must use more wood in the future if design is to be truly sustainable.
